Elemi has a spicy scent similar to frankincense, which is soft and slightly balsamic.

It belongs to the botanical family of frankincense and myrrh and was traditionally used for the skin in Europe.

The active ingredient is contained in well-known ointments such as Baume Paralytique.

In the 17th century, the physician J. J. Wecker used the remedy to treat war wounds.

Elemi is known for smoothing wrinkles and for its relaxing effect after massages.
