This warming, spicy essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fruits and seeds of the muscat. Already in medieval Europe, nutmeg was considered a valuable culinary spice and was highly valued not only for its taste but also for its preservative properties.

The oil has a spicy, slightly musky scent and is particularly popular in the perfume industry. Nutmeg also has a long tradition in the external treatment of seasonal complaints, especially in combination with a massage or a hot bath.

The aroma invigorates the senses and helps to relax body and mind. Nutmeg oil is therefore also popular for promoting an undisturbed night's sleep.
