To produce clove essential oil, the bud and stem of the plant are steam distilled and the rich, potent oil that results contains eugenol. This powerful ingredient is what makes it such a potent essential oil, with many uses in massage oils and cosmetics, for example.

The scent of clove has a sweet, spicy character that has an invigorating effect. Clove is an important ingredient in our Thieves oil blend due to its wonderful effects on the immune system. According to the ORAC scale, clove has the highest antioxidant power of all the individual substances tested.
